Who we
are
Australian Ethical is an ethical superannuation, pension and managed fund
provider that seeks to harness the power of investor capital to help create
positive outcomes for people, the planet and animals while aiming to grow
investors’ portfolios.
Since 1986, all our funds have been screened for both ethical and investment merits, guided by our Ethical Charter and detailed Ethical Criteria. Our in-house ethics team conducts ongoing analysis and engagement to assess companies across complex ethical issues.
We donate 10% of our profits (after tax and before bonus) through the Australian Ethical Foundation, which has directed more than $13M since 2000 towards effective solutions addressing the climate emergency.
We were also the first listed company in Australia to earn Certified B Corporation status, reflecting independent assessment of our social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
What we
exclude
Our Ethical Criteria restrict investments in a wide range of negative
activities. We apply 0% tolerance to activities such as nuclear fission energy
generation and uranium mining, tobacco growing and manufacturing, production of
whole military weapons or lethal firearms and conducting or commissioning
animal testing for cosmetic products. Other activities including fossil fuels,
alcohol production, gambling, pornography, conventional animal agriculture,
certain processed foods, and old-growth logging are assessed using specific
revenue-based thresholds and tolerance criteria set out in our Ethical Guide.
What we
promote
To pass our ethical screen, potential investments must have positive products,
services or activities aligned with our Ethical Criteria. These include areas
such as renewable energy, environmental services, healthcare, sustainable
buildings and affordable housing, sustainable food, and sustainable transport.
