RIAA's Nature Working Group is an initiative to support members in their stewardship responsibilities to protect nature and biodiversity in their business operations and their portfolio of companies.

The Nature Working Group has a three-fold purpose:

  • Supporting members to identify and address nature-related investment risks and opportunities including impacts and dependencies
  • Supporting members to consider nature in the stewardship of their assets;
  • and Finding and sharing the most impactful local and international research and regulatory developments on nature for responsible investors.

The above purpose should be fulfilled with the understanding of the connectedness of this work with Indigenous People and Local Communities, Human Rights and Climate.

As part of the Nature Working Group’s 2026 workplan priorities, this special presentation for this meeting will explore water systems as a key nature-related risk and opportunity for investors.

We’re excited to be joined by Dr Celine Steinfeld, CEO of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists. Celine’s presentation will draw on her expertise in linking science and public policy, as well as her experience in river and floodplain management and work with the Murray-Darling Basin Authority, to discuss how healthy freshwater systems, water rights and long-term river management are relevant to a nature-positive economy. The session will consider practical investor action across sectors such as agriculture, food production, infrastructure and regional economies, with links to climate adaptation, biodiversity, First Nations rights and long-term resilience.

The meeting will also include regular industry and subgroup updates.
