RIAA's Nature Working Group is an initiative to support members in their stewardship responsibilities to protect nature and biodiversity in their business operations and their portfolio of companies.
The Nature Working Group has a three-fold purpose:
- Supporting members to identify and address nature-related investment risks and opportunities including impacts and dependencies
- Supporting members to consider nature in the stewardship of their assets;
- and Finding and sharing the most impactful local and international research and regulatory developments on nature for responsible investors.
The above purpose should be fulfilled with the understanding of the connectedness of this work with Indigenous People and Local Communities, Human Rights and Climate.
We are pleased to have Hugh Bromley, Head of Food, Agriculture and Nature at BloombergNEF, join us for our third Nature Working Group of 2025.
Hugh Bromley leads BloombergNEF research teams covering sustainable food and agriculture systems, land use, nature and biodiversity. Hugh has 15 years of experience helping companies, investors and policymakers navigate the energy and ecological transition. Hugh previously spearheaded consumer clean-tech research at BNEF, examining how new technologies such as alternative proteins, rooftop solar and electric vehicles can disrupt markets. Before that he led the firm's North America clean energy research, and earlier produced analysis on distributed energy, utility strategy and carbon markets within BNEF's Australia research team. In his presentation, Hugh will discuss the impact and dependency of freshwater systems and will also delve into a case study to illustrate this concept in a real-world scenario.
The meeting will then follow with industry, subgroup, policy and advocacy and StockWatch report updates. The meeting will also include a segment to review the 2024–25 Workplan and explore updates aligned with current priorities.
