RIAA's Nature Working Group is an initiative to support members in their stewardship responsibilities to protect nature and biodiversity in their business operations and their portfolio of companies.
The Nature Working Group has a three-fold purpose:
- Supporting members to identify and address nature-related investment risks and opportunities including impacts and dependencies
- Supporting members to consider nature in the stewardship of their assets;
- and Finding and sharing the most impactful local and international research and regulatory developments on nature for responsible investors.
The above purpose should be fulfilled with the understanding of the connectedness of this work with Indigenous People and Local Communities, Human Rights and Climate.
As deforestation continues to rise up the agenda for investors, this meeting will explore how organisations are approaching deforestation commitments in practice and what deforestation means as a financial and systemic risk.
We are pleased to be joined by Siobhan Toohill, Sustainability Advisor at Pure and Applied, whose work spans natural capital, sustainable finance and corporate sustainability strategy, and Mara Bún, Chair of Australian Impact Investments, Non-Executive Director of GreenCollar, and Director of the Australian Ethical Foundation, who brings experience across nature-based solutions, climate transition and investment governance. Together, they will share perspectives on how investors can think about deforestation risks, commitments and implementation.
The meeting will also include regular industry updates.
