RIAA's First Nations Peoples' Rights Working Group is an initiative to support members in their stewardship responsibilities respecting First Nations peoples' rights in their business operations and their portfolio of companies.
The First Nations Peoples' Rights Working Group has a three-fold purpose: address and advance the rights of First Nations peoples and others subjected to systemic racism; elevate First Nations peoples' participation and voices in investment and the Responsible Investment community; and increase access, scale and impact of First Nations peoples' related investment activity.
We are pleased to have Jessica Bulger, CEO of the Australian Indigenous Governance Institute, join us as the speaker for our first First Nations Peoples' Rights Working Group meeting for 2025. Jessica is Wiradjuri from Tumut and Brungle in country New South Wales, and has based her career on the belief that Aboriginal people have always known the solutions for communities and possess the ability to lead them. Having worked in higher education and not-for-profit sectors for over 15 years, she has deep experience in Indigenous governance and leadership.
Following Jessica's presentation, the meeting will continue with industry and subgroup updates, including on Aotearoa New Zealand, First Nations Heritage Protection Alliance, the Dhawura Ngilan Business and Investor Initiative and relevant policy and advocacy.
