The Aotearoa Collaborative Working Group is an initiative by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA), providing a platform for Aotearoa New Zealand members of RIAA to actively participate and collaborate on critical responsible investment and sustainability issues.

It aims to contribute to evolving best practice in responsible investment, sharing knowledge and work to align these with Aotearoa New Zealand's responsible investment and policy priorities. Through quarterly in-person events and shared insights, members commit to improving responsible investment outcomes within the group and influencing their own organisations and the wider investment community.

This meeting will follow the working group's regular agenda items including updates on the Educating, Advocating, and Connecting workstreams. For the Educating session, we will be joined by Daniel Hikuroa, Associate Professor at University of Auckland who will be presenting an introduction to the Mauri Model and how it is relevant to our work. Acknowledging the increasing interest in nature-related disclosures in Aotearoa and as mentioned in the ACWG workplan, investors are beginning to turn their attention to how we define, measure, and value nature in decision-making.

The Mauri Model, created by Dr Kēpa Morgan, is a "decision-making framework that combines a stakeholder assessment of worldviews, with an impact assessment of indicators to determine sustainability and trends over time. The Mauri Model measures mauri in four dimensions – environmental wellbeing (Taiao), cultural wellbeing (Hapū), social wellbeing (Hapori) and economic wellbeing (Whānau).

Further details on the agenda for this meeting will be shared soon.
