The Aotearoa Collaborative Working Group is an initiative by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA), providing a platform for Aotearoa New Zealand members of RIAA to actively participate and collaborate on critical responsible investment and sustainability issues.
This event for the Aotearoa Collaborative Working Group takes the format of a deep dive discussion. In line with the workplan for 2026, the working group selected Nature and Climate integration as the focus of one of these sessions for the year.
The session included presentations from Erica Miles grounding us in nature risk specific to Aotearoa New Zealand and Xuan Sheng Ou Youn, Client Portfolio Manager Sustainable Investing at Robeco on expanding from climate-focused analysis to a broader nature-based lens, recognising climate as one part of the wider natural system.

Xuan Sheng Ou Yong is Client Portfolio Manager Sustainable Investing. Based in Singapore, Sheng represents Robeco’s sustainable investing capabilities and support clients in APAC to find relevant solutions for their sustainable investing objectives. Prior to joining Robeco in 2025, he was ESG Analyst and Sustainable Fixed Income Lead APAC at BNP Paribas Asset Management, and Senior Analyst at EcoVadis. He joined the industry in 2014. Sheng holds Bachelors of Science (Economics) and Bachelors of Business Management from Singapore Management University. Sheng is also a CFA® Charterholder.
