The Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) has today unveiled the 2026 Responsible Investment Leaders and Responsible Investors in Aotearoa New Zealand, celebrating the organisations driving leading practice in responsible investment across the country.
This year, 13 organisations have been recognised as Responsible Investment Leaders and 10 as Responsible Investors.
The recognitions arrive as responsible investment globally faces greater scrutiny and evolving expectations, reinforcing the value of transparency, rigour and accountability.
"New Zealand's responsible investment market is growing in depth and sophistication, and the organisations recognised today reflect that progress. At a time when 75% of Kiwis expect their KiwiSaver and managed funds to be invested responsibly, this kind of leadership builds real confidence and trust." said Dean Hegarty, Co-CEO of RIAA.
Organisations recognised this year demonstrated strong governance frameworks, systematic integration of ESG factors into investment decision-making and transparent reporting on long-term outcomes and stewardship activities, including use of independent verification.
Across the New Zealand market, these efforts are lifting the bar, contributing to more consistent disclosure, better visibility of how ESG risks are managed and clearer demonstration that responsible investment commitments are being put into practice.
“The sector is navigating an increasingly complex landscape, with rising expectations around human rights and geopolitical risks,” Hegarty added. “Leadership today is defined by how organisations respond to that complexity, with willingness to evolve.”
RIAA's recognitions are assessed on a whole-of-organisation basis, drawing on surveys, public disclosures and structured evidence. The 2026 Responsible Investment Leaders and Responsible Investors are evaluated across four pillars: commitment, ESG integration, stewardship and capital allocation.
The 2026 recognised organisations will be celebrated at the RIAA Conference Aotearoa NZ on 22 September 2026.
RIAA congratulates every organisation recognised this year for their contribution to strengthening responsible investment in New Zealand.
