As investors, policymakers and businesses increasingly recognise the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and resilience, attention is shifting from why nature matters to how we finance nature at scale. While frameworks such as TNFD have helped organisations identify nature-related risks and opportunities, the next challenge is mobilising capital into solutions that deliver tangible environmental, social and economic outcomes.
This interactive workshop will explore emerging financing models that are helping unlock investment in natural infrastructure, including wetlands, native forests, catchment restoration, coastal ecosystems and other nature-based solutions. Through a series of practical case studies, participants will hear how governments, insurers, banks and corporates are developing innovative approaches to funding natural assets that deliver resilience, risk reduction and long-term value creation.

Jo Jalfon is Chief Operating Officer at The Aotearoa Circle where she leads execution across the organisation’s strategic priorities, partner relationships, communications, and key workstreams. She joined The Circle in 2024 and brings more than 25 years’ experience in senior leadership roles spanning sectors including tourism, technology, the bioeconomy, and media. Based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Jo draws inspiration from landscapes and is proud to contribute to The Circle’s mission to restore Aotearoa’s natural taonga and help build enduring prosperity for future generations.

Alana Lampitt is an environment and climate change, nature-related risk, and emissions trading law specialist.
Alana has over 20 years’ experience advising on environmental and climate change regulation. She specialises in climate and nature regulation and reporting as well as the legal and regulatory issues arising in carbon and nature markets. She advises carbon and nature project developers in both regulated and voluntary markets. She has advised multiple New Zealand corporates on climate change risk assessment, nature-related risk, emissions abatement and removal projects, offsetting, target setting, and voluntary carbon and nature management and reporting.
Alana co-authored the 2024 opinion for The Aotearoa Circle on New Zealand Director Duties to Manage Nature-Related Risk and Impact on Natural Capital.
Trustee of of Raukūmara Pae Maunga
Ora Barlow is a trustee of Raukūmara Pae Maunga, an iwi-led restoration programme working across one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest and most ecologically significant indigenous forest landscapes. Of Te Whānau-ā-Apanui and Ngati Porou descent, Ora’s work is shaped by the scale of the challenge: restoring vast natural systems cannot rely on short-term conservation funding or fragmented interventions. Her focus is equally on the scale of the solution - bringing indigenous leadership, mātauranga Māori and wester sciences, government and investment together to finance restoration at landscape and intergenerational scale. Ora is helping develop new models that recognise healthy forests as critical natural infrastructure, capable of delivering measurable biodiversity, climate resilience, cultural and economic value for generations.
Associate Director Sustainable Finance at ANZ New Zealand
Camden Howitt is Associate Director of Sustainable Finance at ANZ. He has worked for nearly two decades in conservation and sustainability – previously consulting on climate and nature for PwC New Zealand and prior to that co-founding marine and freshwater conservation charity Sustainable Coastlines. He also sits on the Board of the Revive Our Gulf Trust, a community kaupapa restoring kūtai/mussel reefs across the Hauraki Gulf.
