This session will introduce systems mapping tools and techniques that can help investors accelerate engagement on real-economy decarbonisation across complex value chains. Participants will explore how corporate engagement approaches on climate can be enhanced with broader systems stewardship when individual companies reach the limits of climate action they can take alone.
Through practical examples, the workshop will demonstrate how systems thinking can reveal structural barriers to decarbonisation, interdependencies across sectors, and shared leverage points for accelerating the net zero transition. Brought to you by our friends at Investor Group on Climate Change, through this workshop you will gain an understanding of:
- how systems mapping can support investor stewardship when decarbonisation challenges extend beyond the influence of individual companies.
- practical systems mapping tools and techniques to identify leverage points for decarbonisation and high-impact leverage points for change
- sector-based case examples and peer learnings to strengthen climate engagement strategies
- actionable insights for engaging with companies, policymakers, and other stakeholders to address interconnected climate and transition risks.
This workshop will help participants build systems mapping skills using two practical case studies:
1. Data centres, AI and climate risk
2. Investor action on methane emissions
