How do I apply?

Index providers can contact us via the enquiry form. From there, you will be guided through the application process and connected with our membership team for further discussion.

How does the application process work? Is it different from financial product and service certification?

Index providers can submit their applications through RIAA’s online portal and complete the same application form as financial products. Some questions are not relevant for indices (e.g. stewardship example, submission of an RI policy or PDS etc.) and will be waived. RIAA will assess offering documents and process documents such as methodology, pitchbooks for institutions instead.

During the assessment, RIAA may request the index provider to answer additional questions or provide internal process documents for review.

What indices are eligible for the certification?

RIAA expects indices seeking certification to

• be provided by a current RIAA member;
• have a clear and distinct RI objective(s) or tilt(s);
• satisfy the requirements of the Responsible Investment Standard; and
• participate in the Concerns and Grievance Mechanism and other behavioural safeguards

We have provided a specific guidance notes on how indices can comply with the Standard.

Can a certified index use a certification symbol?

Yes, certified indices will be able to use the RIAA certification symbol to promote their certification status in line with RIAA’s marketing and communications guidelines.
