Investment Sector Kaupapa Māori Market Scan 2026

RŌA Consulting has released the Investment Sector Kaupapa Māori Market Scan 2026.

The report provides a baseline assessment of how kaupapa Māori is currently reflected across the investment and wealth sector in Aotearoa.

Drawing on responses from 32 organisations, the findings show strong interest in Māori values, Māori participation and Māori-led investment. They also identify the practical infrastructure required to translate that interest into consistent investment decisions, leadership pathways and trusted capital relationships.

Three connected Pou provide the pathway forward:

  • Mātauranga: embedding Māori values and knowledge systems into investment practice
  • Ara Ake: strengthening Māori participation, progression and leadership
  • Te Haumi: creating trusted pathways for Māori-led investment and partnership

The report is intended to support collective action across investment organisations, Māori asset owners, iwi, community organisations and philanthropic trusts.

The Investment Sector Kaupapa Māori Market Scan was prepared by RŌA Consulting, funded by Trust Waikato, and developed in partnership with the Responsible Investment Association Australasia and The Stewardship Code Aotearoa.
