This session will introduce systems mapping tools and techniques that can help investors accelerate engagement on complex sustainability challenges with a focus on climate change. Participants will explore how corporate engagement approaches can be enhanced with broader systems stewardship when individual companies reach the limits of climate action they can take alone. Through practical examples, the workshop will highlight how systems thinking can uncover shared leverage points for change. Participants will work in groups to apply systems mapping to certain sectors, identifying intervention opportunities and collective pathways forward. Brought to you by our friends at Investor Group on Climate Change, through this workshop you will gain an understanding of:
- how systems mapping can support investor stewardship when complex climate-related challenges extend beyond the influence of individual companies.
- practical systems mapping tools and techniques to identify leverage points for engagement and system-level change.
- sector-based case examples and peer learnings to strengthen responsible investment strategies and escalation pathways.
- actionable insights for engaging with companies, policymakers, and other stakeholders to address interconnected climate and sustainability risks.
- how stewardship approaches can be enhanced with broader systems engagement - for example when individual companies reach the limits of action they can take alone.
