Privacy Policy

The Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) recognises the importance of privacy protection. Our policy for dealing with any personal information that you might disclose to us while visiting this website is explained below.

The type of personal information that we collect from you will depend on how you use our website and the type or interaction you have with RIAA. The information we collect is handled sensitively, securely and with proper regard to privacy. It is not our policy to sell or pass on any personal information that we collect from members, stakeholders or clients to third parties, unless we have your express consent to do so. An exception to this is where we are required by law to disclose certain information.

The personal information that we collect on you when you use our website

RIAA uses web analytics in order to collect a range of information about your interactions with our websites. The web analytic software collects information, such as IP address, location, date and time of the visit, web pages visited, documents downloaded and the time spent on each page, using various techniques, including cookies. We also monitor the domains from which our websites are accessed, and other access statistics. RIAA may use some of this information to help us to evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of our website and the resources that we provide and to help us to improve the content.

RIAA gathers user information through optional, voluntary requests to receive electronic information and publications, to participate in working groups, to register for conferences and other events and other activities.  Users may remove themselves from these mailing lists by following the link provided in each email.

Membership Information

RIAA gathers information from members to be able to provide services to members. Members can access resources from the member only access area of the website, and register for RIAA events through the “My Glue” portal. To access both of these services, users must register and supply a password, email address and other contact details. Some of this information is aggregated and used to analyse RIAA’s membership composition and determine services and activities that will be provided.

Certification

Through application to the RI Certification Program, organisations are required to provide information on their financial product. Some of this information may be confidential or commercial sensitive. RIAA uses this information to assess whether the product meets particular standards, and use of the information includes uploading holdings to third parties for analysis.

How we handle emails

We will preserve the contents of any e-mail message that you send us if we believe that we have a legal requirement to do so. Emails sent to or from RIAA may be monitored for quality control, systems administration and legal compliance purposes.

Social Media

RIAA uses social media including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to communicate with members, non-members, stakeholders and followers. We also use social media to promote member benefits and services including events. Where appropriate, RIAA may record details of a topic or post discussed by an individual, including their name in order to further discuss the matter offline.

What to do if you believe the information we hold about you is inaccurate

You have the right to request access to personal information we have collected and hold about you. Subject to any lawful reason not to, we will give you access to the personal information we hold for you and allow you to correct any information that is incorrect.

RIAA will take all reasonable steps to correct personal information we have collected and hold about you, if we are satisfied that it is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

If you would like more information about our privacy policy or would like to provide feedback or a complaint about how we have handled your information, please contact our Privacy Officer. We take all privacy concerns seriously and will endeavour to acknowledge your feedback or complaint within two business days. Any complaints will be managed as per RIAA’s Concerns and Grievances Policy and will be responded to, in writing, within 30 days of receipt.
