Christian Super is a unique Christian based superannuation fund primarily focused on the Christian community in Australia. We have captured our Christian Principles in our 'Statement of Faith' and in our 'Purpose, Vision and Mission Statement'.

We began as the Christian Schools Superannuation Fund in 1984. In 1999, we changed our name to become Christian Super, and since then the Australian Baptist Retirement Fund, the Churches of Christ Provident Fund and a number of Christian funds have merged with us. In April 2006, we became a public offer Fund.

Anyone can join or contribute to Christian Super. We are growing strongly and currently have around 17,000 members, including employees, self-employed and pensioners. We are the default fund for over 1,600 ministry organisations across Australia.

We manage $500 million in funds for our members. Assets are ethically invested to provide competitive returns within Christian principles.

Please explain your superannuation fund's overarching responsible investment strategy
An ethical screen is placed on all investments made by the fund. The screen results in exclusions of investment in companies that do not meet set criteria on specific issues, for example gambling. Depending on the severity of the issue, either complete exclusions or exclusions based on the level of involvement are made.

The Fund also undertakes positive screening where it seeks out companies that are actively showing corporate responsibility. Through these screens, we have the capacity to weight our investment in these companies more heavily than others.

The Fund also undertakes ESG (environmental, social and governance) investments in areas and technologies aligned with our ethical investment charter, for example, clean technology, micro-finance and social infrastructure.

In circumstances where Christian Super is not able to find a publicly available investment which complies with its ethical investment guidelines, it may opt to enter into an investment mandate so these ethical investment guidelines are met. Through
these mandates and via internal and external ethical investment research, Christian Super provides the investment managers with a list of companies that are to be excluded from our investment universe. These exclusions are updated periodically with Christian Super's ethical investment guidelines, and as the ethical research teams update the research database.
